‘Des Knaben Wunderhorn’ with Taiwan’s National Symphony Orchestra

On April 13, Thomas Hampson returns to Taiwan, appearing with the National Symphony Orchestra on a program that features works by Gustav Mahler, Johannes Brahms, and Yu-Chen Ho. Under the baton of Jun Märkl, Hampson will perform his acclaimed interpretation of Mahler’s folk-inspired Des Knaben Wunderhorn. Hampson previously recorded the piano version of the beloved song cycle, accompanied by Geoffrey Parsons; a performance lauded as “sweetly spiritual” by James Leonard.

The program also includes the world premiere of Cho’s Imperfect Machine, which was written as part of the NSO’s One Minute Symphony project, and Schoenberg’s orchestration of Brahms’ fiery Piano Quartet No.1.
