Gstaad Festival Lieder Concert

Thomas Hampson performs an evening of Mahler with the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra under the baton of Vasily Petrenko as part of the Gstaad Menuhin Festival on August 28.
Hampson previously collaborated with Petrenko and the orchestra on performances featuring orchestral lieder and American repertoire. Widely celebrated as one of history’s defining interpreters of Gustav Mahler’s vocal literature, the baritone has been praised by New York Classical Review for his “profound intellectual insight, rich tonal beauty, and deeply immersive dramatic delivery.”
The program features Alma Mahler’s “Laue Sommernacht,” “Ich wandle unter Blumen,” and “Die stille Stadt,” alongside Gustav Mahler’s Rückert-Lieder and Symphony No. 5 in C-sharp Minor.
