‘La traviata’ in Graz

On August 17 and 19, Thomas Hampson brings his “world class” (Neue Press) Georgio Germont in Verdi’s beloved La traviata to audiences at Graz’s Kasematten Castle. It’s a signature role for the baritone, who has sung it on some of the world’s most prestigious stages, including The Metropolitan Opera, the Salzburg Festival, the Royal Opera House, Deutsche Oper Berlin, and others.
Hampson joins a phenomenal cast, led by conductor Marcus Merkel. Soprano Nicole Chevalier is Violetta Valéry, with Xabier Anduaga as Alfredo Germont, Neira Muhić as Flora, Marija Ticl as Annina, Ivan Oreščanin as Marchese, Daeho Kim as Dottore Grenvil, Christian Scherler as Gastone, and Sangyeon Chae as Barone Duphol.
The August 17 performance will be broadcast live on ORF TV, and will be available to stream until September 16.
