‘Farmer’s Market’ at the KirchKlang Festival

Thomas Hampson joins the KirchKlang festival for Farmer’s Market – Bach, Baroque & Jazz in the Countryside on August 10. This charming program is anchored by Bach’s folk-inspired Mer hahn en neue Oberkeet, BWV 212, often known as the Peasant Cantata. The piece is sandwiched by Johann Heinrich Schmelzer’s Die Fechtschule (The Fencing School), a musical suite designed to accompany fencing demonstrations, as well as classic songs by Cole Porter.
Hampson is joined for this enchanting concert by soprano Susanne Langbein, accompanied by the Ensemble Energizing Ukraine, led by conductor Jeremy Joseph. The Ensemble supports exiled Ukrainian artists, bringing their voices to the heart of the Salzkammergut.
