Mozart, Schubert, and Beethoven in Vienna

On May 18, Thomas Hampson will appear with conductor Martin Haselböck and the Wiener Akademie Orchestra in a program featuring works by Mozart, Schubert, and Beethoven. The orchestra, known for its authentic historical sound, will offer a compelling setting for an evening of orchestral and vocal masterpieces.
The concert will open with Beethoven’s Coriolanus Overture and conclude with the Eroica Symphony. In between, Hampson will perform several selections by Mozart, including the Count’s aria “Hai già vinta la causa” from Le nozze di Figaro and Rivolgete a lui lo sguardo. An ardent advocate for art song, Hampson sings Schubert’s Geheimes, Memnon, and Erlkönig in arrangements by Brahms and Liszt. Hampson is widely praised for his lieder, with Bachtrack raving that “his was the passion and interpretation of a master singer who truly loves the genre and is able to communicate this love to the audience in a touching and moving performance.”
