Schubert’s ‘Winterreise’ in Switzerland, Germany, and the Netherlands

This February and March, Thomas Hampson brings his acclaimed interpretation of Schubert’s Winterreise to venues in Switzerland, Germany, and the Netherlands. While the piece is originally written for voice and piano, Hampson will instead be joined by Latvian accordionist, Ksenija Sidorova. In addition to Schubert’s beloved song cycle, the duo will also perform pieces by Astor Piazzolla, Igor Stravinsky, Segey Voitenko, and

Kurt Weil.

The short tour opens on February 27 at Germany’s five-star cultural getaway, Schloss Elmau. Hampson and Sidorova then travel to Switzerland, where they will perform on March 1 at the Reformierte Kirche Seon, and at the Tonhalle Orchester Zürich on March 2. On March 4, they will perform in Amsterdam at the Het Concertgebouw. The duo returns to Germany for performances on March 6 at the Konzert Theater Coesfeld, followed by a performance on March 8 at Beethoven-Haus Bonn.

Hampson’s complete recording of Winterreise is available from EMI Classics.
