Celebrating Gustav Mahler in Berlin

On February 16, Thomas Hampson and longtime collaborator, pianist Wolfram Rieger, present an emotionally-rich program celebrating the music of Gustave Mahler and his contemporaries at Berlin’s Pierre Boulez Saal. Hampson has long been a champion of Mahler’s songs, and has made several recordings of his work, including Des Knaben Wunderhorn, Das Lied von der Erde, Songs of a Wayfairer, and more.
This special program invites the audience on a musical journey into Mahler’s life, and also includes works by his contemporaries Alban Berg, Arnold Schönberg, Alexander Zemlinsky, Anton Webern and Richard Strauss, as well as his wife, Alma Mahler.
