October concerts in Leipzig and Stuttgart

This October, Thomas Hampson travels to Stuttgart and Leipzig for two symphonic concerts. On October 5, Hampson joins the Stuttgarter Philharmoniker for Alexander Zemlinsky’s dramatic Lyric Symphony, Op. 18, singing alongside soprano Johanna Winkel. Conducted by Andrey Boreyko, the program also features Johannes Burgert’s Minute Piece (UA) and Beethoven’s beloved Fifth Symphony.

Hampson performs a thought-provoking program on October 13 at the Gewandhaus zu Leipzig, featuring selections from Charles Ives’ 114 Songs, as well as Arnold Schoenberg’s Ode to Napoleon Bonaparte, Op. 41. Conductor Dennis Russell Davies leads the Sinfonieorchester Leipzig. Well-regarded for his interpretation of Ives’ music, Hampson regularly performs his songs live and on recording. He can be heard on the critically-acclaimed Charles Ives: An American Journey, recorded with the San Francisco Symphony, under the baton of Michael Tilson Thomas.
