Thomas Hampson joins the Dallas Symphony Orchestra Tour in Spain
Thomas Hampson joins the Dallas Symphony Orchestra for Kurt Weill’s Four Walt Whitman Songs on tour in Spain, with performances on June 3 at the Auditorio del Palacio de Congresos in Zaragoza, and on June 5 at Auditorio Nacional de Música in Madrid.
The concert program opens with Angélica Negron’s What Keeps Me Awake, a contemporary piece delving into themes of sleeplessness and introspection. Next, it features Kurt Weill’s Four Walt Whitman Songs, which merge classical traditions with distinctly American elements, reflecting Weill’s European training and adaptation of Whitman’s poetry. The evening culminates with Tchaikovsky’s Symphony No. 5, an emotionally powerful and richly orchestrated masterpiece.
