Schubert Week at the Pierre Boulez Saal

Thomas Hampson returns to the Pierre Boulez Saal for the fifth year of Schubert Week – a week dedicated to Schubert Lieder featuring daily concerts, workshops, and other events in Berlin.

From January 16 to 22, the Pierre Boulez Saal’s Schubert Week, curated by Thomas Hampson, once again unites a group of veteran and up- and-coming artists to explore a selection of these works, together with compositions by Schubert’s contemporaries.

As in previous years, Hampson is joined by pianist Wolfram Rieger for the festival’s opening recital on January 16. On January 20 & January 21, Mr. Hampson leads two public workshops where he’ll offer rare insights into the training and development of young singers. The results of their work with Mr. Hampson during the week are presented in a closing concert on Sunday afternoon, January 22, where they will perform selected songs by Franz Schubert and his Contemporaries.
