Internationale Opernwerkstatt Waiblingen 2022

From October 3 to 7, 2022, Thomas Hampson and Melanie Diener lead masterclasses at the International Opera Workshop Waiblingen for the third time at the Waiblingen Civic Center. The final concert with the two mentors and all scholarship holders rounds off the week-long intensive on October 8, 2022, in the Ghibellinensaal of the Waiblingen Civic Center.

The 13 singers selected to receive a scholarship for the 3rd International Opera Workshop Waiblingen 2022 represent vocal ranges from soprano to baritone and come from all over the world, including Azerbaijan and Australia, New Zealand, South Africa, and Ukraine, among others.

The focus of this year’s opera workshop and thus also of the final concert was works by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart. A selection of the most popular and vocally demanding titles of the composer, arias will range from “The Magic Flute,” “Cosi fan tutte,” “Don Giovanni,” “Marriage of Figaro” and the “Abduction from the Seraglio” to ensembles from “Idomeneo” and “La clemenza di Tito.”

The artists will be accompanied by the Württembergische Philharmonie Reutlingen, which was awarded the prize “Innovative Orchestra 2019” for its interactive live streaming format NETZ-WERK-ORCHESTER, unique in Germany, under the direction of the internationally renowned conductor, solo répétiteur of the Stuttgart State Opera and head coach of the Stuttgart International Opera Studio, Vlad Iftinca.
