Masterclasses at the University of Michigan & Manhattan School of Music

Thomas Hampson heads to the University of Michigan School of Music for his residency beginning on Sunday, February 2, with the “Song As Citizenship” Symposium in McIntosh Theatre. The free event will be led by Associate Dean Mark Clague, with panelists including Mr. Hampson, Lousie Toppin, Caroline Helton, Chrisie Finn, George Shirley, among others. The event explores the importance of music and song. Three SMTD vocalists will sing solo songs.

On February 3, Mr. Hampson will work with four SMTD students in a masterclass in Stamps Auditorium. The event is free to the public and will be streamed live; more information is available via The Hampson Foundation. Following on February 5, Thomas Hampson travels to New York City to lead a masterclass at the Manhattan School of Music, beginning at 4 pm (est). The masterclass will also be streamed live; more information is available via the MSM website.
