Concerts at the 8th Bürgenstock Winter Festival

Thomas Hampson performs in a series of chamber music concerts, featuring pianist Yuja Wang and clarinetist Andreas Ottensamer, at the Bürgenstock Winter Festival in Switzerland this month. Marking the 8th Bürgenstock Winter Festival, this edition focuses on traditions, legacies, and anniversaries. Following the festival’s new tradition, they also depart from the purely classical and explore tunes from the American songbook with Mr. Hampson.

Beginning on January 21, Hampson performs works by Cole Porter in a sold-out performance at the Kaufleuten Club in Zürich. On January 23 at the Hotel Villa Honegg, Hampson performs Dvorak’s famous Zigeunermelodien, op. 55, a work that displays Dvorák’s ever-increasing skill at vocal composition, with its supple vocal melodies and its vivacious and dance-like piano accompaniment. On January 24 at the Hotel Villa Honegg, Hampson continues his exploration of the American songbook, singing songs by Aaron Copland, George Gershwin, and Cole Porter.
