Thomas Hampson performs his “Song of Liberty: Beyond America” project in his hometown of Spokane, on March 1 with pianist Lara Downes and an ensemble of musicians from the Spokane Symphony. Marking the west coast premiere of his new project, Hampson performs an all-American program that explores the influential people, poetry and events that helped create and define our nation. At the Martin Woldson Theater, using song, personal anecdotes and historical monologues, Hampson will take the audience on a journey through American history as seen through the eyes of poets and the ears of composers.

Also on March 1 from 3:00-7:00 p.m. at the Eric A. Johnson Auditorium, the Spokane Symphony and the Hampsong Foundation offer a free Song of America Teacher Workshop. The workshop includes an interdisciplinary exploration of American history and culture through classic song, designed for K-12 Language Arts, English, Social Studies, and Performing Arts educators, as well college instructors, teaching artists and college students preparing to teach K-12. Educators will engage in hands-on activities, participate in interactive presentations, and experience live performances of music.

The workshop includes two tickets for each participant to attend Hampson’s concert, “Song of America: Beyond Liberty,” on Friday, March 1st at 8:00 p.m. at Martin Woldson Theater at The Fox. Register online here for the workshop, or contact the Martin Woldson Theater at The Fox box office at (509) 624-1200. V.I.P. tickets, including a backstage meet and greet, are available. Both regular and V.I.P. tickets may be purchased online here, or with personalized service at the Box Office of Martin Woldson Theater at The Fox, 1001 West Sprague Avenue, or by calling 509-624-1200. They are also available online and at all TicketsWest outlets.
