Thomas Hampson travels to the Middle East for concerts with the Israel Philharmonic Orchestra. Under the baton of Vasily Petrenko, he will join the ensemble for nine concerts and perform a recital with Polish pianist Maciej Pikulski.

Beginning on December 10 at Zucker Hall in Tel Aviv, Hampson and Maciej Pikulski present a program consisting of Schubert’s Schwanengesang, the final collection of songs written by the composer, as well as songs by Liszt. Hampson ends the recital with songs from Mahler’s Des Knaben Wunderhorn, a set that Hampson has previously recorded, more details available via his Recordings.

Further performances with the ensemble include December13, 14, 15, & 23 at the Lowy Concert Hall in Tel Aviv and on December 16 at Rappaport Hall in Haifa. The program features Schubert’s Overture toRosamunde, following with Hampson singing songs by Hugo Wolf. Completing the program is the Schumann’s first symphony “Spring”.

Final performance dates include December19, 20, 22, & 24 in both Tel Aviv and Haifa. The program includes Ives’ Putnam’s Camp from Three Places in New England, Copland’s Old American Songs, and Prokofiev’s Symphony No. 5. Hampson’s performance on December 20 will feature a selection of songs from the American songbook by Porter, Kern, and Rodger’s and Hammerstein.
