‘Simon Boccanegra’ in Vienna
On May 6, 10 & 13, Thomas Hampson returns to the Wiener Staatsoper, starring in the title role of Verdi’s Simon Boccanegra. The cast also features Francesco Meli as Gabriele Adorno and Marina Rebeka as Amelia Boccanegra. Evelino Pidò conducts all performances, which feature a production directed by Peter Stein. The May 13 performance will receive an online broadcast via the Staatsoper Live platform.
Hampson is also featured in the role on a critically acclaimed album release from Decca Classics:
