Hampson reunites with acclaimed pianist and frequent collaborator Wolfram Rieger on July 12 and 17 for recitals at the Schubertiade Hohenems, at the Markus-Sittikus-Saal. They present works by Hugo Wolf on the first recital, including selections from Lieder nach Gedichten von Eduard Mörike, Gesänge des Harfners aus Goethes (“Wilhelm Misters Lehrjahre”), and Lieder nach Gedichten von Joseph von Eichendorff. The second recital highlights songs by Loewe, Schubert’s Lieder nach Gedichten von Heinrich Heine, and Schumann’s 20 Lieder und Gesänge aug dem »Lyrischen Intermezzo« von Heinrich Heine. The performances are featured as part of Hampson’s week-long residency in Hohenems, which also features a series of master classes.
Hampson and Rieger then present a recital at the Salzburg Festival on August 15 at the Haus für Mozart, commemorating the 400th anniversary of the death of William Shakespeare. The programme includes Shakespeare settings by Schubert, Vaughan Williams, Korngold, and Schumann.
