La Scala operatic debut in title role of ‘Don Giovanni’

Next season, Thomas Hampson makes his highly anticipated operatic debut on the stage of Milan’s famed Teatro alla Scala, in the title role of Mozart’s Don Giovanni. Having previously performed in recital at the venue, this will be Mr. Hampson’s first appearance in an opera at La Scala. Performances take place May 6, 9, 12, 14, 17, 19, 28 & 31 and June 3 & 6, with a spectacular international cast including Hampson’s son-in-law, bass-baritone Luca Pisaroni as Leporello, Anett Fritsch as Donna Elvira, Hanna E. Mueller as Donna Anna, and Bernard Richter as Don Ottavio. Tickets go on sale from March 6, 2017 in person and via La Scala’s website.

Don Giovanni is a signature role for Mr. Hampson, whose thrilling portrayals of the infamous seducer have enraptured audiences across the globe. A 2007 Decca DVD release of his performance at the Salzburg Festival is available via Amazon.com.
