Upcoming Recitals in the U.S.

Thomas Hampson joins pianist Kevin Murphy for a recital at the Ravinia Festival, on July 28. The program features selections from Schubert’s Schwanengesang, D. 957, songs by Mahler, Burleigh, Bonds, Daugherty, and a performance of Jennifer Higdon’s Civil Words, which Mr. Hampson premiered at Carnegie Hall earlier this year. Enjoy this Ravinia Backstage interview with Mr. Hampson, where he shares his thoughts on the history and importance of art song in our culture.

He then travels to Idaho to sing with the Sun Valley Summer Symphony, as part of their IN FOCUS Series, featuring music from The Great American Songbook. The concert takes place at the Sun Valley Pavilion on July 31, featuring Thomas Hampson and a string quartet on Barber’s Dover Beach, and Hampson on a series of American songs including works by Bonds, Copland, and Higdon, with pianist Peter Grunberg.
