In his latest release on the Warner Classics label, Thomas Hampson’s Autograph box set focuses on the true depth of his musical career and repertoire.
This set provides a biographical panorama of his work through a series of thematically programmed CDs and illuminating documentation. Drawing on the extensive EMI, Erato and Teldec catalogues, this collection highlights some of Hampson’s most iconic roles, including the title role in Verdi’s Simon Boccanegra and Germont in the composers’s La traviata, as well as the Count in Mozart’s Le nozze di Figaro.
This special collection – whose tracklisting has been carefully overviewed by Mr. Hampson – also features Thomas in an exclusive interview with journalist Jon Tolansky, providing a unique behind-the-scenes look at an artist who has had a tremendous impact on the world of classical music.
“. . . the American baritone has always brought vocal artistry and keen musical intelligence to his wide repertoire. No less important has been his dedication to lieder and art song. Hampson’s championing of the neglected vignettes of American composers has been particularly significant . . .” (South Florida Classical Review)
