Look for Thomas Hampson and composer Christopher Theofanidis in the September 2011 issue of VANITY FAIR (page 202, Jennifer Lopez on cover).  In the text accompanying the photo, Hampson describes the real-life hero, Rick Rescorla, whom he will play in the world premiere of the composer’s new opera, Heart of a Soldier, as “a hell of a decent, bright, terribly  disciplined human being.”   The work, featuring a libretto by Donna Di Novelli, adapted from James B. Stewart’s 2002 book and directed by Francesca Zambello, opens at San Francisco Opera on September 10, marking the 10th anniversary of the 9/11 tragedy.
