Major CD Re-releases on EMI and Warner Classics

“Being an artist always includes the question about one’s development and what is yet to come.” This is what Thomas Hampson recently said in an interview, and if one looks at his extensive discography, one thing becomes clear: He has always focused on personal development and has not confined himself to boundaries. The newly re-released CDs show the singer in an abundance of roles and genres.

On Warner, “Ives, Mac Dowell, Griffes – Lieder” presents Thomas Hampson singing from the songbook of his native America. The neo-romantic songs by Charles Ives and by the lesser known Edward Mac Dowell and Charles Griffes were composed with German lyrics and therefore refer to Thomas Hampson’s excellent reputation as a leading singer of the German Lied-tradition.
